Residents of Bimasa town in Tureta Local Government Area, Zamfara State, took matters into their own hands, storming a bandits’ den to rescue kidnapped community members.
The daring operation, which unfolded in the dense forest hideouts of the attackers, resulted in the neutralization of several bandits and the safe recovery of hostages.
Sources told Zagazola Makama that the community member, undeterred by fear, pursued the armed criminals after they abducted locals in a brazen raid.
The residents retaliated engaging the bandits directly, overpowering them in a fierce confrontation. “The community successfully recovered those who had been taken hostage during the raid,” a source confirmed.
The residents returned to Bimasa with one captured bandit as community leaders hailed them, describing it as a show of their determination to protect their own.
However, they expressed concerns about potential reprisal attacks from the bandits’ allies. “Community leaders commended the residents for their resolve and called on authorities to reinforce the community with maximum security due to the fear of reprisal attack by the bandits,” a leader stated.
