Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has expressed optimism that the ongoing war with Russia may come to an end during the Ramadan season, provided the United States exerts sufficient pressure on Russia.

Zelenskyy stated this in a post on his official X handle on Thursday, shortly after observing iftar.

He pointed out that Ukraine’s diplomatic efforts, along with those of its partners to bring peace closer, have coincided with Ramadan.

He highlighted a successful meeting between Ukrainian and American diplomatic representatives, which took place in a Muslim country, as a crucial step towards restoring peace.

“And it could turn out that if the pressure from the United States on Russia is sufficient, a real opportunity will emerge during Ramadan to begin taking strong diplomatic steps towards peace, to start developing a plan for truly ending the war and guaranteeing security.”

He expressed gratitude to Ukraine’s partners for their support, hoping that international efforts will succeed in bringing peace closer.

” We in Ukraine hope that these international efforts will succeed and that silence in the skies, at sea, and on the Frontline will help bring peace closer.

“We are grateful to all our partners who support us,” zelensky added.
