A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and Chairman, PDP Advocates for Peace and Justice (PAPAJ), Tom FredFish, has called on the party to zone its presidential ticket to the South-South and specifically to the Minister of the FCT, Barr. Nyesom Wike, to avoid repeating the mistakes of 2023.

FredFish said that giving Wike the presidential ticket is the only way to bring peace to the party and honour the party’s long-standing zoning arrangement.

The PDP chieftain made the statement during a media parley in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, noting that Wike is the only robust and credible candidate in the southern part of Nigeria that can win elections, especially against President Bola Tinubu.

FredFish stressed that without Wike, the PDP cannot stand, describing Wike as the soul of the party, the saviour, redeemer, and solution to PDP’s misfortune.

He also noted that the recent composition of a reconciliation committee by the PDP is a waste of time, querying what and who they would reconcile.

According to FredFish, Wike’s influence within the APC hierarchy could help pull prominent members back to the PDP.

The PDP chieftain also mentioned that giving Wike the presidential ticket would test his commitment to the party, as Nigerians would see if he would resign as FCT Minister to face his presidential ambition or reject the ticket to serve President Tinubu.

FredFish criticized Wike for being two-faced and destroying the PDP, which made him who he is, and urged the party to give him the ticket to see what he would do with it.
