Wike’s Budget Pitch Sparks Debate, After Defends Of N1.78 Trillion FCT Plan Before Lawmakers

ABUJA, NIGERIA – Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, defended the N1.78 trillion 2025 FCT budget before lawmakers yesterday.

Speaking at the National Assembly, Wike said 72.3% of the budget targets capital projects, totaling over N1.28 trillion.

He stated that the remaining 27.7%, approximately N494.13 billion, is allocated for recurrent expenditure in 2025.

According to Wike’s post on social media, priority projects include completion of roads B6 and B12 in Abuja.

Others are the development of Arterial Road N20, and engineering infrastructure for Guzape, Wuye, and Maitama II districts.

Also included are the Inner Southern Expressway extension and construction of FCT Highway 105, linking Kuje.

Wike listed additional projects like Northern Parkway construction, Old Keffi Road rehabilitation, and Arterial Road N1 development.

The dualization of Kuje-Gwagwalada Road and upgrade of War College/Ushafa Road were also highlighted in his remarks.
