The Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Hon. Aondona Dajoh, has resigned from his position, just hours before another planned attempt by lawmakers to oust him.
Dajoh’s resignation, tendered on Sunday afternoon, came barely two days after he suspended four members of the Assembly for allegedly conspiring to remove him from office. Despite his decisive action, rumours of a fresh impeachment plot scheduled for Monday had been swirling around the state capital, fueling intense political tension within the Assembly.

Sources close to the Assembly disclosed that Dajoh, who had been facing mounting opposition from within, opted to step down rather than face another bruising showdown that could have further deepened divisions among lawmakers.
