Governor Otu Appoints New Senior Secondary School Education Board In Cross River

CROSS RIVER, CALABAR – Governor Bassey Edet Otu of Cross River State has appointed a new board to oversee the State Senior Secondary School Education Board.

His Chief Press Secretary and Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Linus Obogo, announced the appointments in a press release issued on Monday, October 13, 2025.

Governor Otu appointed Dr. Tony Ngban as Chairman, Mr. Patrick Uguge, Mrs. Agube Ekwele Ignatius, and Miss Asari Eso Archibong as members, while Mr. Lawrence Oku will serve as Secretary. The appointments take immediate effect.

Obogo said the governor approved the appointments to strengthen and reposition the education sector in line with his People First agenda.

He explained that Governor Otu expects the new board members to apply their experience, integrity, and commitment to excellence to improve senior secondary education across the state.

“The governor believes that education is the foundation of sustainable development and moral growth,” Obogo said. He added that Otu’s administration aims to promote higher teaching standards and better learning outcomes through effective management and ethical leadership.

Governor Otu directed the board to uphold transparency, discipline, and accountability in the discharge of its duties. He also urged members to drive reforms that will raise academic performance and enhance the welfare of teachers and students.

Truth Live News report that Education stakeholders in Cross River praised the appointments. They said the move shows the governor’s strong commitment to restoring quality and ethics in the education system.
