Akpabio Hails Gov. Eno’s Defection: “True Concern For Our People “

UYO, NIGERIA – Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Bassey Eno, has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), alongside top government officials.

Senate President Godswill Obot Akpabio, confirmed the defection Thursday via his verified social media account.

He stated that Eno was accompanied by his deputy, Akon Eyakenyi, commissioners, and lawmakers at both federal and state levels.

Also present were council chairmen and other stakeholders from the ruling state party structure.

“I received our governor…after the historic defection…into the Progressives’ family,” Akpabio wrote.

He welcomed the defectors at his residence in Uyo, joined by APC governors led by Imo Governor Hope Uzodimma.

Akpabio, a member of the APC, described the move as “a show of true concern for our people.”

The governor has yet to make a personal public statement on the defection at the time of reporting.

Observers note the defection could shift the political balance in Akwa Ibom ahead of future elections.
