NIGERIA, CALABAR – The Cross River State Civil Service Commission has directed all Forest Guards employed in 2024 to undergo verification and validation in Calabar, according to an invitation notice issued on 14 November 2025.
The Commission announced that candidates from the Southern Senatorial District must appear on Monday, 17 November 2025, as indicated in the official circular seen on the notice board.
It added that those from the Central Senatorial District will undergo the exercise on Tuesday, 18 November 2025, while Northern District candidates are scheduled for Wednesday, 19 November 2025.
The verification will hold at the headquarters of the Cross River State Forestry Commission, Calabar, and will begin at 9:00 a.m. daily, the statement disclosed.
The Chairman of the Commission, Sir Maurice Effiwatt, said candidates must present originals and photocopies of their credentials, including two recent passport photographs, for proper documentation.
He warned that attendance is compulsory, noting that “failure to comply will be taken to mean such candidate has relinquished the appointment,” as stated in the circular.
Effiwatt stressed in the notice that the exercise aims to ensure transparency, accountability, and staff authenticity within the state’s forest protection workforce.
The Commission emphasized physical appearance as a mandatory requirement to prevent impersonation and uphold ethical standards in the ongoing staff audit.
The invitation serves as the latest step in the state government’s efforts to sanitize recruitment records and strengthen operational integrity across its agencies.
