Businessman and social media celebrity, Obinna Iyiegbu, popularly known as Obi Cubana has finally bowed to the powers of the law as he quits Plot 81, Ademola Adetokumbo Crescent, Wuse 11, Abuja, the property housing the popular Cubana Lounge on Friday.

The property has been under contention as it was said that it belongs to Rev. Chidiebere Amakaeze.

Recall, Amakaeze had accused Cubana of failure to pay rent for over two years.

However, last Friday members of staff of the popular Lounge and others suspected to be hired hands were seen packing their properties from the building.

Also, a document indicating the enforcement order of court affirming ownership of the property was prominently pasted on the building.

The eviction of the Cubana owned lounge from the property followed the enforcement of the judgment that confirmed Rev. Amakaeze as the landlord of the building.

A High Court of Federal Capital Territory sitting in Gwagwalada had in a judgment on 3rd July 2025 granted the right of possession of the property to Rev. Amakeze in a suit filed against SEMC-Investment Ltd. and one Onwuzulike Collins.

This was after the court decided that Rev. Amakaeze duly purchased the property from the said Onwuzulike Collins at an agreed sum of N2 billion.

The court based its verdict on Power of Attorney and Deed of Assignment which transferred ownership to him duly executed with effect from 1st May, 2024.

The court said that despite the deed of assignment, the claimants have not been able to take possession of the property.

The court presided over by Justice J.A Aina therefore granted right of possession and use of the property at Plot 81, Ademola Adetokunbo Crescent, Wuse II, Abuja to Rev Amakaeze, having established that he duly purchased the property.

The court also ordered the defendants to immediately give vacant possession of the property at Plot 81, Ademola Adetokunbo Crescent, Wuse II, Abuja to Rev. Amakaeze.

The judgment also ordered the Inspector General of Police, Commissioner of Police, Abuja, FCT and other security agencies to assist the claimants in lawfully taking possession, occupation and use of the said property as the ownership belongs to them.

The court also awarded the cost of N10 million only against the defendants as cost of prosecuting the matter.

Significantly, the defendants in their counter affidavit did not contest ownership of the property.

The solicitors to Rev. Amakaeze, led by Prince Ben S. Ikani Esq and E. I. Nwafor Esq of Citadel of Justice of Law Firm, Abuja, had before the enforcement of the order on Friday repeatedly asked Cubana to vacate the property.
