YENAGOA, BAY ELSA – Two public projects in Bayelsa State have been completed using funds recovered by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong has disclosed.

The Cross River South lawmaker made the revelation during the commissioning of the new NDDC Bayelsa office in Yenagoa and a multipurpose training center in Otuokpoti.

“These projects are a clear example of how crime proceeds can be repurposed to serve the people ethically and transparently,” Senator Ekpenyong said during the ceremony on Friday.

He applauded the EFCC under its Chairman, Mr. Olanipekun Olukoyede, for recovering illicit funds and ensuring their redirection to public good in line with anti-corruption reforms.

Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State, the Minister of Regional Development, Rt. Hon. Abubakar Momoh, and members of the NDDC board were present at the events.

Senator Ekpenyong commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for reinforcing the Renewed Hope Agenda in the Niger Delta through tangible, ethical development outcomes.

He also credited the National Assembly, led by Senate President Godswill Obot Akpabio, for providing legislative support to sustain NDDC’s mandate and budgetary integrity.

“Redirecting stolen funds to serve community needs restores public trust and upholds justice,” the Senator added, pledging continued oversight and cooperation from the National Assembly committees.
