Jerome Rothen, a former Paris Saint-Germain star, believes Kylian Mbappe will not win the Ballon d’Or this year, citing the player’s failure to achieve significant success at Real Madrid.
Rothen claimed Mbappe joined Real Madrid to fulfill his dream of playing for the Spanish side and winning the Ballon d’Or, but has fallen short of expectations.
According to Rothen, Mbappe’s performance at Real Madrid this season has been underwhelming, both collectively and individually.
The former Rangers player asserts that Mbappe’s early season struggles cannot be justified, labeling him a “resounding failure”.
He said, “People are talking about Kylian Mbappé.
“He arrived at his dream club with the ambition of winning every trophy, including the Champions League, and also of being among the best players in the world and winning the Ballon d’Or. Collectively and individually, he is a failure.
“He will not win the Ballon d’Or this year. He is a resounding failure.
“At the start of the season, mitigating factors were found.”
