A deadly early morning attack on Suwa village in Mushere District, Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State, left one person dead and two others injured on Friday, August 8, 2025.
The assault, attributed to suspected Fulani militias, has heightened tensions in the region, prompting a swift security response.
According to counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama, the attack occurred at approximately 7:00 a.m. when armed hoodlums stormed the quiet village. “The incident occurred at about 7:00 a.m. on Friday when armed hoodlums, suspected to be Fulani militias, invaded the community,” Makama reported.
The assailants struck with lethal force, killing one resident and leaving two others wounded. The injured were promptly rushed to Luna Hospital for treatment, while the deceased’s body was taken to the hospital’s morgue.
The attack is the latest in a series of violent incidents in Plateau State, where clashes between local communities and suspected militias have fueled unrest.
In response, a joint security operation has been launched, with forces combing the surrounding bushes to track down the perpetrators. “A joint security operation is currently underway in the surrounding bushes to track down the attackers and bring them to justice,” Makama noted, highlighting the authorities’ commitment to restoring peace.
The incident has left Suwa village reeling, with residents calling for increased protection. As security forces intensify efforts to apprehend the culprits, the community mourns its loss and prays for the recovery of the injured.
Authorities have yet to release further details, but the ongoing operation signals a determined push to curb violence in Plateau State.
