Two notorious kingpins, Kachalla Mai Hidima and Kachalla Bingil, were killed in a brutal ambush by rival gangs in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

The attack happened along the Mai Kogo–Mai Aya Aya axis within the Dansadau district on Wednesday, September 3, 2025.

Sources confirmed that unidentified assailants launched a surprise assault, raining gunfire on the kingpins and their men, resulting in their immediate deaths. “Kachalla Mai Hidima and Kachalla Bingil were caught in the ambush while moving between villages. Their deaths are believed to be linked to long-standing rivalries among bandit factions operating in the Dansadau forest,” one source revealed.

Kachalla Mai Hidima, once a key lieutenant under the infamous Dogo Gide, had broken away to form his own criminal faction, establishing a strong base east of Gidan Fulani Mai Kudi near Hannu Tara in Dansadau.

“This is part of a larger trend of internal conflicts among bandits, especially in Maru, Anka, and Shinkafi, where pressure from military operations has disrupted old alliances,” another source noted. The Dansadau axis, a volatile stronghold for armed groups over the past decade, remains a flashpoint in Zamfara’s relentless banditry crisis.
