Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has publicly acknowledged that the club made a mistake by not sacking former manager Erik ten Hag in the summer.

In an interview with Sky Sports, Ratcliffe expressed regret over the decision, stating that it was an “error” and the “wrong decision.”

Ratcliffe praised the current head coach, Rúben Amorim, for doing an “excellent job” despite the team’s struggles in the league.

Manchester United currently sit 14th in the Premier League table, 36 points behind leaders Liverpool.

The co-owner explained that the decision to extend Ten Hag’s contract was made too hastily, and the club failed to properly assess the manager’s performance due to the short time frame.

Ratcliffe took responsibility for the mistake, saying, “Hands up, me of course, on that one.”
