The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oredo Local Government Area (LGA) of Edo State, on Tuesday, held a stakeholders’ meeting, reaffirming its commitment to reclaiming its mandate brazenly stolen during the 2024 Governorship election.

In his opening address during the stakeholders meeting held at the party Secretariat in Urubi, Oredo, the Chairman of the party in the LGA, Henschel Usaiobafo, praised the party members and leaders for their loyalty and commitment.

He said the attendance at the meeting has further shown that the PDP in Oredo remains a formidable force, noting that they are confident on reclaiming the mandate duly given to the party by Edo people during the last Governorship Election.

Those in attendance at the meeting include the duly elected Oredo Council Executive Chairman, Dr. Tom Obaseki, elected councillors led by Hon. Izekor Harrison, leaders, members, and supporters of the PDP from across the 12 wards of the local government council.

Usaiobafo said the meeting was held to appreciate leaders and members of the party in Oredo.

He praised the Edo State House of Assembly member representing Oredo East Constituency, Hon. Uyi Frank Omosigho, and the 12 elected councillors of Oredo Local Council for their resolve to remain with the party despite harassment and intimidation by the ruling All Progressive Congress-led State Government.

The elected Oredo Council Executive Chairman, Dr. Obaseki, said members and leaders of the PDP in the council have consistently demonstrated that the Oredo is different, noting, “Oredo is the central of Edo politics. In the last 2024 Governorship Election, Oredo scored the highest votes in the State. No one leader or member of the party in Oredo has decamped. From the councillors, the council executives and the member of the party in the State Assembly, none has decamped. All of this is because of our conviction in the party.

“I urge all of us to continue to be united. We all know that we won the September 19, 2024 Governorship Election. We strongly believe that we will get our mandate back. We should be steadfast and united as the voice of the people will be restored.

“What they gave us before is not justice. Justice is what the people at the poll said, it is the pattern that reflects what the people said. What they did at the tribunal was judgement. It is not reflective. I believe strongly that we will get justice no matter what. Let’s continue to be steadfast and united as at the end of the day, we will all have a reason to celebrate.”

In his remarks, Member of the PDP South South Zonal Caretaker Committee, Idehen Ebomoyi, said in the entire South South, the PDP in Oredo Local council is the most talked about today, adding that the resolute of the leadership and the councillors is exemplary and deserves commendation.

“I want to bring the greetings of our leaders, Asue Ighodalo and Osarodion Ogie who are aware of this meeting today. I also want to thank the member of the PDP Board of Trustees, Chief Lucky Igbinedion for his support. PDP remains very firm as a political party.”
