The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has abruptly postponed its 103rd National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, originally slated for Wednesday, October 15, 2025, amid a cascade of defections and internal strife.

The decision, announced by the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), cites “recent developments” and invokes Section 29 (2)(b) of the PDP constitution, with a rescheduled date to be communicated later.

The postponement comes at a precarious moment, as Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah is set to bolt to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as early as Tuesday, according to party insiders.

At least two other governors are reportedly teetering on the brink of following suit, exacerbating the PDP’s existential crisis.

This exodus follows Monday’s bombshell resignation of Sadiq Abdullahi, the House of Representatives member for Sabon Gari Federal Constituency in Kaduna State, who lambasted the party for its “deepening internal conflicts” and “loss of direction.”

The turmoil is further inflamed by controversy swirling around PDP National Secretary Senator Samuel Anyanwu, widely perceived as aligned with Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike—a leader of another PDP faction whose influence continues to fracture loyalties.

PDP National Publicity Secretary Debo Ologunagba, in a terse statement, urged calm: “All NEC members should please note the postponement and be guided accordingly.”

The party’s leadership faces mounting pressure to reconcile warring factions, but with governors like Mbah eyeing greener pastures, the path to stability appears increasingly elusive.
