The Federal Government of Nigeria has initiated a series of ministerial press briefings, announced by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, during a press conference in Abuja on Tuesday.
Minister Idris revealed that President Bola Tinubu has instructed all ministers to engage with the media on a regular basis. “President Bola Tinubu has directed all ministers to appear periodically before the media to provide updates on their activities and policies,” Idris stated.
These briefings are designed to serve multiple purposes: they will act as a conduit for ministers to communicate directly with Nigerians, shedding light on significant developments within their ministries and tackling public queries and concerns.
Idris further explained, “The briefings will serve as a platform for ministers to directly engage with Nigerians, highlight key developments in their respective ministries, and address public concerns.” He added that different ministers would take turns weekly to brief the public.
This initiative comes just before the second anniversary of President Tinubu’s administration, underscoring the government’s pledge to maintain an open line of communication with its citizens regarding its programs and policies.
