Troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA have recovered significant arms and ammunition following a successful ambush against terrorists in Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State.
The operation, conducted along the Lema–Daban Lema road based on intelligence about terrorist movements, resulted in the seizure of an AK-47 rifle, a magazine loaded with 30 rounds of ammunition, and a motorcycle, Zagazola Makama reports.
A security source confirmed that “although the terrorists managed to escape after brief contact,” the recovered items represent a blow to their operations.
In a related development, Maj.-Gen. CR Nnebeife, Commander of Sector 3 OPFY, accompanied by Brig.-Gen. EB Barkins, Commander of 22 Brigade, visited the Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Patigi to assess troops’ combat readiness.
During the visit, Nnebeife paid a courtesy call on the Etsu of Patigi, where he “commended traditional rulers for their support in the fight against insecurity” and “assured the people of Kwara that the Nigerian Army remains committed to protecting lives and livelihoods.”
Community leaders in Edu LGA commended the operation, stating that “the recovery of arms would deter further criminal activity in the area.”
