Troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA, alongside police and Community Watch patrol teams, thwarted an armed bandit attack on Awari Yashe and Sararawa villages in Kusada Local Government Area, Katsina, in the early hours of Thursday, September 18, 2025.
The assault, which occurred around 3:25 a.m., saw suspected bandits invade the communities, prompting immediate action from security forces.
According to sources, the troops engaged the assailants in a fierce gun duel, forcing them to retreat. However, the attack left one resident, 40-year-old Sama’ila Dahiru, with gunshot injuries, and an unspecified number of livestock were rustled. As the bandits fled via the Gidan Mutun Daya–Kofa highway, they caused a fatal road accident, resulting in the death of an unidentified victim.
“All the victims were evacuated to the General Hospital in Kankia, where the deceased was certified dead by a medical doctor,” a source confirmed. Security efforts have since been intensified to apprehend the fleeing suspects and recover the stolen livestock. Patrols in the affected areas have also been strengthened to prevent further attacks.
Authorities remain on high alert, with ongoing operations aimed at restoring peace and security to the affected communities.
