IKOM, CROSS RIVER STATE – The Executive Chairman of Ikom Local Government Area, Hon. Pastor (Mrs.) Mercy Nsor, presented a N10.06 billion Appropriation Bill to the Ikom Legislative Council for the 2025 fiscal year, describing it as a “Budget of Consolidation” aimed at expanding service delivery and promoting economic empowerment.
The budget, according to Nsor, is strategically divided into recurrent and capital expenditures with a focus on critical development priorities, including job creation, infrastructure, and local economic growth.
The budget presentation was confirmed through a release by the Office of the Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the Executive Chairman of Ikom LGA.
“This budget is packaged to implement projects and programs that will boost our people’s confidence in the system and improve their wellbeing in the face of economic challenges,” Nsor said during the presentation.

She stated that the proposed budget reflects the Council’s commitment to “judicious use of public resources,” aligning with the broader developmental goals of the Cross River State government.
According to the official breakdown, the total budget stands at N10,065,090,483, a significant increase of N4.71 billion from the 2024 budget of N5,347,009,845.
The proposed revenue will be sourced from internally generated revenue (IGR), statutory allocations, FAAC, VAT, and ecological funds.
Truth Live News gathered that of the total amount, N1.28 billion is expected from IGR, while N4.53 billion is earmarked for recurrent expenditure—including personnel and overhead costs.
Capital expenditure is projected at N5.53 billion, backed by N529.89 million in capital receipts.
Legislators praised the Chairman for her proactive approach and early presentation. “With Ikom coming first in both the appointment list and budget presentation, it shows how prepared the Chairman was for this task,” a statement from the councilors read.
Leader of the Legislative Council, Hon. Moyo Efale, assured the Chairman of a speedy review and passage of the budget. “We understand the urgency and people-focused nature of this proposal. It will receive the attention it deserves,” he said.
Deputy Leader, Hon. Kasetima Ayiba, also commended Nsor’s leadership. “This budget reflects innovation and is tailored to meet the needs of our people. It’s a landmark presentation and a first in the state.”
