A police inspector presumed killed during a bandit attack in Adabka village, Bukkuyum Local Government Area of Zamfara State, has been found alive, the Zamfara Police Command confirmed.

The officer, AP/No 287155 Insp. Utanga Micheal, was reported missing following the August 8 incident, which claimed the lives of a Police Mobile Force personnel and a Civilian Joint Task Force member.

Sources told Zagazola Makama that Insp. Utanga was rescued after spending five days hiding in the bush to evade the attackers.

According to sources, a joint rescue team of police operatives, local vigilantes, and Adabka residents located the officer on the outskirts of the village. “He was handed over to the village head, who took him to Adabka Primary Health Care Centre for initial treatment before arrangements were made to refer him to the Federal Medical Centre, Gusau,” the sources said.

Efforts are ongoing to recover missing firearms, including riot gunners, taken during the attack, sources added.
