47th President of the United States of America, Donald Trump

Greenland and Denmark have agreed to boost their ties in response to US President Donald Trump’s interest in taking control of the strategically located Arctic island.

The leaders of the two countries made the announcement at a joint press conference in Copenhagen, emphasizing the need for unity in the face of external interest.

Greenland’s Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen stated that the island will never be a piece of property that can be bought by anyone, while also expressing willingness for a strong partnership with the US.

Nielsen’s visit to Denmark came after months of tension over Trump’s repeated declarations that Greenland should become part of the United States.

Both leaders have emphasized that only Greenlanders can decide their future, while also trying to maintain good ties with their traditional ally.

Denmark is ready to invest more in Greenland and support the island financially as it takes over more responsibility for domestic affairs.

The two countries are committed to strengthening defense in the Arctic region, with Denmark calling for increased collaboration with the US.
