  • Ogun Lady Strips Naked, Barks Like A Dog After Encounter With Yahoo Boy

A young mentally-ill lady has stripped herself and barked like a dog in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, the police have confirmed.

A statement by the Ogun police command spokesperson, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the command is investigating the incident.

The police spokesman said the command was aware of the report of the yet-to-be-identified lady who might have been diabolically used for money ritual by a suspected internet fraudster otherwise called Yahoo boy.

Oyeyemi said, “The young lady in question was alleged to have been spiritually and diabolically used by a suspected yahoo boy, as a result of which she started barking like a dog.”

He said the lady who was brought to police without any clothes on her, became “very difficult to control because she was acting violently, hence she was kept in the cell.”

Oyeyemi said police had immediately contacted her parents, saying she was taken to a hospital with the help of the police.

He said that “the alleged Yahoo boy was immediately arrested for interrogation,” adding that the case which drew a large crowd to the station was later transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department on the directive of the Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole.

He, however, said the command was surprised and embarrassed to see the video of the victim circulating on social media.

He said, “The height of the embarrassment was the fact that the said video was recorded while the victim, who was then naked and uncontrollable, was in a police cell.

“In view of this, the Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole has ordered a full scale investigation to unravel the source of the video and how it became a subject of social media discussion.

“It is barbaric, uncivilised and despicable circulating such video on social media as such will in no small measure denigrate the human dignity of the victim which might be another source of psychological trauma for her.

“The command has therefore vowed to deal with whoever is found to be the source of the video and those behind its circulation on social media in the most decisive manner notwithstanding the status of the person.“

He stressed that the Rivers State governor is a straightforward person who says things as they are.

“Wike is our own Jagaban; how do you explain a governor being able to keep other governors in line? One thing you can’t deny him is that he has the ability to say it as it is. He will not bend or colour things.

“Atiku holds Wike in high esteem, time and space may not bring them together, but he does. Wike is a man of revolution; he is one of the totems of PDP,” he said.

  • MONEY LAUNDERING: Senator Nwaoboshi Bags Seven Years Jail Sentence

The Lagos Division of the Court of Appeal has convicted and sentenced Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, senator representing Delta North Senatorial District at the National Assembly, to 7 years imprisonment.

The Appeal Court also ordered that his two companies, Golden Touch Construction Project Ltd and Suiming Electrical Ltd, be wound up in line with the provisions of Section 22 of the Money Laundering Prohibition Act 2021.

This ruling followed the appeal by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, challenging the judgment of the Federal High Court which on June 18, 2021 2018 discharged and acquitted the defendants of a two count charge of fraud and money laundering.

EFCC had arraigned the three defendants over the acquisition of a property named Guinea House, Marine Road, in Apapa, Lagos, for N805 million. Part of the money paid to the vendor, precisely a sum of N322 million transferred by Suiming Electrical Ltd on behalf of Nwaoboshi and Golden Touch Construction Project Ltd , was alleged to be part of proceeds of fraud.

The Federal High Court dismissed the charge on the ground that the prosecution failed to call vital witnesses and tender concrete evidence to prove the elements of the offences for which it charged the defendants.

As opposed to the ruling of the Federal High Court, the Appeal Court on Friday, 1st July, ruled in favour of the prosecutor, the superior court held that the trial judge erred in dismissing the charges against the respondents. It said the prosecution had proved the ingredients of the offence and consequently found the defendants guilty as charged.

  • Nigerian Man Fathered Five Sets of Twins

Ayopo Ogunleye, who has fathered five sets of twins, has become something of a local celebrity in western Nigeria.

Mr Ogunleye is now bringing up his children alone in the Ado-odo area of Ogun state as his wife left years ago after her parents complained that she was having too many twins.

Now in his 40s, he is raising seven children as the couple lost the first set of twins as infants and a boy from the last set also died.

Mr Ogunleye said he had not been expecting twins the first time his wife conceived and was surprised when he was called from the hospital.

“When I heard that my wife had given birth, I asked if it was a boy or girl, and they said I had twins.”

This was a dream come true for him.

“I had been praying about it from childhood, I gave thanks to God. I hugged my wife and congratulated her.”

The Yoruba community, mainly found in western Nigeria, has one of the highest rates of twin births in the world.

Twins are called “Ibeji” and culturally they believe they have to be followed by a single birth – known as “Idowu”.

But Mr Ogunleye said each time his wife became pregnant, it was twins.

“Second time twins, third time twins, fourth twins, fifth twins,” he said.

The reason for having so many twins remains a mystery to him: he says he does not eat anything special or do anything differently to others.

Despite the financial and physical constraints of raising so many children, he would like to have more and hasn’t ruled out marrying again.

“Children are blessings from God,” he said

  • NDLEA, UNODC Runs Training For Governors’ Wives On Drug Prevention

The United Nations’ office on drugs and crime report, said that people under the age of 35 make up the majority of those being treated for drug use disorders in Africa and Latin America.

This is one of the statistics included in the UN agency’s 2022 drug report.

The UNODC report estimates that, approximately 284 million people worldwide between the ages of 15 and 64 used drugs in 2020.

This stands for a twenty six percent increase from the previous decade.

It also revealed that young people are using more drugs with usage levels in many countries higher than the previous generation.

As a result, Nigeria’s first lady Aisha Buhari was urged with all parties involved to positively contribute their quota to the country’s effort to combat drug use.

A two day workshop on drug prevention, treatment and care training organised for the wives of governors is designed to enhance their capacities to implement evidence based drug prevention education programs.

This will also enhance the visibility of treatment of care for those with substance use disorder and facilitate their re integration into society.

Nigeria’s first lady who was represented by the wife of the vice president, Dolapo Osinbajo stated the need to give priority to the existence of state drug control committees.

The UNODC used the avenue to urge the government to consider the quick need to conduct a second national drug use survey due to the growing youthful population in the country.

According to the United Nations, while some progress has been made, more needs to be done by exposing children to skills that will help them deal with the challenges of drug use and abuse.

It also paves way for the inclusion of counseling services in primary health care clinics.
