Troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA have rescued two kidnapped victims and recovered 56 cattle and 38 goats in coordinated operations across Rabah and Tureta Local Government Areas of Sokoto State.

According to Zagazola Makama, the operations, conducted in collaboration with state security agencies and local hunters have seriously caused trouble to the operations of terrorists in the community.

In Tafara village, Rabah LGA, troops engaged terrorists in a firefight, forcing them to abandon their captives and retreat towards the Sububu Forest.

According to a security source, “two kidnapped victims were rescued in the process,” marking a successful intervention amid rising abductions in rural Sokoto.

In a related operation near Bimasa village in Tureta LGA, troops, alongside the Sokoto State Community Guard Corps, foiled a large-scale livestock rustling attempt.

The source noted that “the terrorists, who had carted away 56 cattle and 38 goats, fled under heavy fire, abandoning the livestock.” The recovered animals were promptly returned to their owner, Alhaji Malami Mai Rawa.

The operations come as rural communities in Sokoto face heightened insecurity, with farmers expressing concerns about “repeated attacks on farmers during the harvest season.”
