Abuja Residents Face Blackout as AEDC Reports Technical Fault on Feeders

The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has announced a power outage affecting several areas of Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

In a statement released on Saturday, the company said the blackout was caused by a “technical fault” on power feeders supplying electricity to the affected districts.

The areas impacted include multiple estates and commercial areas across Abuja, such as Efab Classic Estate, Trademore Estate, Metro City Estate, Sunnyvale Estate, Brains & Hammers (Phases 1, 2, and 4), Riverpark Estate, Lugbe Shoprite, and the NAF Conference Centre.

Other affected areas include parts of Gwarinpa, Jahi Village, Mabushi, SHEDA Science and Technology Complex, Abaji Town, and locations housing institutions such as the War College, NIGCOMSAT, NJI, and NABDA.

“We regret to inform you that the ongoing power outage is due to a technical fault affecting the feeders serving these locations,” AEDC said.

“Our dedicated technical team is working tirelessly to restore power as quickly as possible. We appreciate your patience and understanding.”

Residents of the FCT have faced multiple outages in recent months. In April and January, similar disruptions occurred due to line relocations and maintenance by the Federal Capital Development Authority and the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).

The AEDC has not given a specific timeline for when electricity will be restored.
